While I received excellent training in Urology during my time both in medical school and in residency, I left residency woefully unprepared in the business side of medicine.
The eye opener for me was my experience with billing and coding when my twins were born and the neonatologists were out of network. I wrote about that experience in this blog on the Urology Times (My six-digit mistake with a new health insurer. November 02, 2015)
After that experience, I started researching and learning about the incredibly complicated topic of medical billing and coding. My goal was to ensure that no patient was ever put in a terrible position like I was because of over billing. I learned though that while overbilling is unfortunately common, under-billing is more common and is a leading factor in the demise of independent medical providers like myself.
The goal of billing and coding is to properly document and code what you do. It seems simple but it is not.
With that in mind, I have created a series of videos that I believe explain the system and how to best to navigate it. The videos cover the basics of billing and coding for office visits and procedures as well as describing how to use modifiers to ensure that you stay in compliance with CMS rules.
I have given versions of these talks to various physician groups, residency groups and at national conferences such as the 2018 10th Annual Excellence in Urology Seminar in Park City, Utah.
Recently, my video was featured on the White Coat Investor’s website. The White Coat Investor is a strong believer in helping physicians become financially independent and believes that my course is truly helpful. A link to his blog about my course can be found here:
These videos are aimed at all practicing physicians with the goal of ensuring that all patient visits and procedures are properly coded to ensure optimal care for the patient without under-billing.
Access to the videos can be purchased here for $249 for one month of unlimited access and will change how you code for both the betterment of your patients and your practice. I promise this course is worth the time and money for both you and your patients.
